Sofa sanitizing

A smell that will not leave even with the windows open, or a sofa that has not had a deep treatment in a long time? Sanitizing reaches what the surface does not show.

What does sofa sanitizing cover?

A sofa made from woven fabric absorbs sweat, body oils and food smells layer by layer, and those residues settle into the padding and between the fibres, well beyond the reach of a surface wipe. In the heat, what hides there multiplies and gives off stronger odours over time.

Tell us what you notice in your sofa, whether it is a persistent smell, a recurring mark or simply a need for a deep treatment after a long interval. Call or message us on WhatsApp, give us your district and the fabric type if you know it, and we agree a time.

These are the parts the sanitizing goes through, depending on the fabric type, its condition and what you notice in it.

  • The fabric surface

The face of the fabric is treated to lift visible and invisible residues that settle on the fibres, which are the main source of smells that come back after airing.

  • Padding and inner layers

Sweat and oils pass through the fabric and build up in the foam and padding, and that is where the smell rises from when someone sits down or the room warms up.

  • Back and seat cushions

We treat both faces of each cushion and its sides, because the side that rests against the frame quietly collects moisture and dust that ordinary cleaning misses.

  • Crevices and seams

The seams between panels and the gaps around the arms and base trap fine debris, and these spots are where the sofa's odour problem usually starts.

  • Arms and backrests

After the seat, the arms and backrests are the parts most in contact with skin, quietly absorbing natural oils until the fabric changes colour or gives off a faint greasy smell.

  • Frame base and underside

We wipe the exposed solid parts of the frame and the underside, where a fine layer of dust builds up and adds to the overall smell of the sofa.

Questions

Questions about Sofa sanitizing

My sofa looks clean but the smell will not go, does it need sanitizing?

Yes. A persistent smell points to residues hidden in the padding or between the fibres that airing and surface wiping cannot reach. Woven fabric in particular traps organic odours like sweat and body oils deep below the visible surface, and sanitizing targets those inner layers directly.

Is sofa sanitizing different from sofa washing?

Sofa washing mainly removes visible marks and surface dirt from the fabric, while sanitizing focuses on treating internal residues in the padding, fibres and crevices. Many customers ask for sofa sanitizing after a long period of use, or when the smell returns despite regular cleaning. We ask about your sofa's condition when you call to agree on what suits it.

What should I prepare before the sanitizing appointment?

Remove any extra cushions, throws and objects on the sofa, and leave clear space around it on all sides. Let us know in advance if the sofa is in a tight corner or against a window so we can prepare. There is no need to move the sofa from its spot.

What should I check in the sofa after the sanitizing is done?

Sit on the sofa and check the smell first, then inspect the cushions on both sides and make sure the seams and crevices are clean. Look at the fabric in natural light to confirm no marks remain, and tell us anything you notice before we leave.

What changes the cost of sofa sanitizing?

The cost varies with the size of the sofa and the number of seats, the fabric type since fabrics differ in how densely they absorb residues, and how deep the smell has settled into the padding. Access to the sofa and where it sits in the home also play a part. Call or message us with the details and we agree a price.
