Ceiling extractor cleaning

The ceiling extractor works silently above you until grease starts dripping from it, or smells stop clearing. We clean it inside and out.

What does ceiling extractor cleaning cover?

A ceiling extractor is different from a wall-mounted hood: it sits flush in the kitchen ceiling or island, and grease collects horizontally instead of running forward. That means fat settles slowly inside the fan, duct and filter without showing itself, until drops begin to fall or the suction weakens noticeably.

Call or message us on WhatsApp, tell us your extractor type, what you have noticed and your district, and we agree a time, and we take care of everything else from there, so you do not have to worry about any detail.

These are the parts the cleaning goes through in a ceiling extractor, depending on its condition and what you notice.

  • Cover and frame

We remove the cover and clear the layer of grease and dust from it, as it is the first surface to meet steam rising from the hob and forms a sticky film that traps dust.

  • Suction fan

The fan in a ceiling extractor runs horizontally, and grease builds on its blades quietly until the weight slows them and suction drops, so we clean the blades with care.

  • Filter and mesh

The filter catches grease before it reaches the duct, and when its pores clog the air cannot pass freely, so we take it out and clear what has built up in it.

  • Duct and channel

The horizontal duct in the kitchen ceiling carries dirty air out, and its inner walls collect grease over time. We wipe the accessible section of it.

  • Grease collection tray

Some ceiling extractors have a tray that collects liquid grease before it drips. We empty and wash it, because an overfull tray is what causes grease to run down.

  • Internal housing

The inner walls of the housing absorb grease vapour from cooking, and we wipe these surfaces because leaving them means the smell stays even when the extractor runs.

Questions

Questions about Ceiling extractor cleaning

Grease is dripping from my ceiling extractor, does that mean it needs cleaning?

Yes, grease dripping from a ceiling extractor is a clear sign that the collection tray or filter is full and grease is running down. Other signs are weaker suction when it runs and cooking smells lingering in the kitchen well after the hob is off. Call us and tell us what you see.

My ceiling extractor is above a kitchen island, is it cleaned the same way?

An island ceiling extractor shares the same horizontal build and grease pattern, and the work covers the housing, fan, filter and duct. When you call, tell us its location and whether the duct runs inside the ceiling, as that affects access.

How do I get ready before the ceiling extractor cleaning appointment?

Clear shelves and drawers directly below the extractor and move nearby kitchen tools or dishes. If the extractor is high and out of easy reach, tell us when we agree the appointment so we can prepare accordingly.

After cleaning, what should I check on my ceiling extractor?

Switch the extractor on after the work and notice the suction strength compared with before. Listen for any rattling that was not there before, and check that the cover sits flush and the filter is back in its correct position.

My ceiling extractor is built in with no visible filter, can it still be cleaned?

Yes, some built-in ceiling extractors have filters that sit behind the cover or inside the housing and are not visible from the outside. When you call, tell us the extractor model or send a photo on WhatsApp, and we agree what the cleaning covers based on how it is built.
