What does microwave cleaning cover?
Every time greasy food or a sauce is heated, tiny droplets fly off and stick to the interior walls, ceiling and door glass of the microwave. Over time those droplets harden into a layer that traps smells and makes a simple wipe with a cloth no longer enough to clear them.
Call or message us on WhatsApp, tell us what you notice in your microwave and which district you are in, and we agree a time that suits you.
These are the parts the cleaning goes through, depending on the condition of the appliance and what you notice in it.
- Interior walls and ceiling
We remove hardened grease layers and dark marks from the four walls and the ceiling, which are where food splatter clings most during heating.
- Turntable plate and ring
We take out the glass turntable and the ring that carries it and wash them separately, because food residue collects underneath them and cannot be cleared without lifting them out.
- Door glass from the inside
We wipe the inner door glass and clear the grease that clings to it, as it picks up the same splatter as the walls but is often left out.
- Door frame and inner rim
We clean the frame around the door opening and the inner rim it closes onto, where grime collects and can stop the door sealing well.
- Interior vents and sides
We wipe the sides of the cavity including the areas around the interior vents, where fine dust and grease build up over time.
- Outer casing and top surface
We wipe the outer casing and the top surface free of dust and grease marks, since a microwave in a kitchen also picks up cooking oil mist on the outside.

Questions about Microwave cleaning
How do I know my microwave needs an interior clean?
Signs include a stale smell when it runs even when empty, dark marks on the walls that will not wipe off, or discolouration on the inner ceiling. If you notice light smoke when heating food, that is usually old grease residue burning off the surface.
What should I prepare before the microwave cleaning appointment?
Clear any food or covers off the turntable and leave comfortable access to the appliance on all sides. If the microwave sits under a low cabinet or in a tight space, mention that when you call so we can prepare accordingly.
What should I check after the microwave is cleaned?
Run the appliance for a minute and check that the turntable rotates smoothly without a scraping sound, that the old smell is gone, and that the door glass is clear with no interior fogging. Also check that the door closes firmly as it did before.
What changes the amount of work in a microwave clean?
The age and hardness of the marks is the biggest factor: fresh grease is much easier to remove than layers that have built up and set over a long time. The size of the appliance and whether the turntable or ring are damaged or hard to remove also affect the work.
I wiped the microwave myself but the smell stayed, why?
The smell usually stays when grease has soaked into the inner coating or has built up in the gaps around the door frame and vents that a surface wipe cannot reach. Sometimes the turntable or its ring is the source because residue trapped underneath them was not cleared.
