What does washing-machine cleaning cover?
A washing machine runs with warm water constantly, which makes the inside a place where detergent residue and mould collect, especially in the rubber door seal and on the drum walls. Hard-water limescale adds to this, settling in the drain filter and the detergent drawer where a normal wash cycle cannot reach it. Washing-machine cleaning for this reason covers the internal parts, not just the outer surface.
Tell us what you notice in your machine and which district you are in, and we agree a time with you. We handle the parts that are hard to reach on your own, and you can be confident that the laundry coming out is clean from a machine that is clean.
These are the parts the cleaning covers, depending on the type and condition of your machine and what you notice in it.
- The door seal
The rubber seal traps water and moisture in its folds after every cycle, where black mould spots form. We clean each fold of the seal directly to remove them.
- The drum interior
Detergent residue, limescale and fibre deposits cling to the metal drum wall and transfer to the laundry. We clean the full interior wall.
- The detergent drawer
Powder and conditioner residue harden in the plastic drawer over time and block the water channel. We pull the drawer out and clear the build-up.
- The drain filter
The drain filter catches threads and small particles to keep the pipe clear. When it fills, drainage slows or a smell appears. We remove it and rinse it.
- The door and its glass
Soap deposits and hand marks build up on the inner glass and the door frame. We wipe both until the view through the door is clear again.
- The outer body
We wipe the top, sides and visible rear panel of dust and marks. Dust settles on every horizontal surface in the home.

Questions about Washing-machine cleaning
How do I know my washing machine needs cleaning?
Clear signs are laundry that smells damp despite using detergent, dark patches on the rubber door seal, or drainage taking longer than usual. If the machine has not had an internal clean for a long time, a check is sensible even without those signs.
What should I prepare before the washing-machine cleaning appointment?
Empty the machine of laundry before the appointment and leave the door slightly open to air the inside. If the filter or drawer have not been opened for a long time, let us know so we can be ready for whatever has built up in them.
What should I check after the machine is cleaned?
Look at the door seal to check the dark marks are gone, pull out the drawer to confirm it is clean, then run a short empty cycle and check that drainage is quick and there is no smell when you open the door.
What changes the scope of work for washing-machine cleaning?
The machine type matters: a front-loader has a wide door seal and a drain filter that needs removing, while a top-loader has a different layout. The longer the gap between cleans, the more limescale and mould builds up and the more care is needed. Tell us the type and what you notice when you call.
The mould on my door seal will not come off when I wipe it myself, why?
The rubber seal has deep inner folds that stay damp after each cycle, and mould roots itself there over time. Wiping the surface does not reach those folds, which is why it comes back quickly. Effective cleaning means reaching each fold of the seal, not just the visible surface.
