What does roller blind cleaning cover?
A roller blind looks flat and firm, which is why the dust on it is hard to see from across the room. But the taut fabric wound onto the tube traps fine dust, greasy marks near the kitchen, and moisture stains by bathroom windows and exterior frames. Over time the fabric stiffens and the edges start to change colour.

These are the parts the work goes through for each roller blind, depending on the fabric condition and what you notice in it.
- The roller fabric
The fabric is removed from the tube and cleaned separately, because fine dust works into the weave and does not come off with surface wiping.
- The tube and end caps
Dirt builds up around the tube's axles and in their housing; cleaning them means the fabric rolls and unrolls evenly once it is back.
- Edges and hem bar
The bottom edge and its hem bar collect dust and moisture and are the first parts to yellow or stiffen in kitchen and bathroom blinds.
- The rail and bracket
We wipe the top rail and brackets clean before re-fitting, because dust left on the rail transfers straight back onto the clean fabric.
- Moisture and grease marks
Moisture marks near windows and grease marks on kitchen blinds need different treatment from ordinary dust, so we ask where the blind hangs when you call.
- Refitting and check
We refit the blind onto its rail, unroll and roll it in front of you to confirm the mechanism runs evenly and the fabric lies flat.

My roller blind looks clean, does it still need washing?
Roller blinds absorb fine dust into the weave without it showing on the surface from a distance. Dust in the tube and along the edges only becomes obvious when you touch the fabric or notice it stiffening at the folds. If the blind is in a room where windows are opened often, or near a kitchen, dust builds up faster than you might expect.
My bathroom roller blind has yellow stains, what causes them?
Yellow marks on bathroom blinds come from steam moisture building up in the fabric over time and setting into stains if not treated. Roller blind fabric in bathrooms is more exposed to this because it absorbs moisture and does not air out the way hanging fabric curtains do. Tell us where the blind hangs when you call so we can prepare for that type of mark.
Does a roller blind have to be fully taken down before washing?
Yes, the blind is taken off its rail so the fabric and tube can be cleaned properly. Wiping it in place does not reach the dust worked into the weave or the dirt around the axles. If you have curtains you want cleaned without taking them down, that is a different service in the list below.
What changes the cost of cleaning roller blinds?
The price depends on the number of blinds, their size, the fabric type, how dirty they are, and whether the location makes taking them down or re-hanging them more involved, such as a high fixing. Give us the details when you call and we agree the price before any appointment.
What should I check when my roller blind is back after cleaning?
Unroll the blind fully and roll it back to check the mechanism moves smoothly and the fabric winds evenly without drifting to one side. Check the edges and hem for the marks you noticed before, and confirm the bottom bar is straight and not bowing. We do this with you before we finish.
