What the service includes

What does grout cleaning cover?

Grout is porous by nature, so it absorbs steam, grease and soap in bathrooms and kitchens day after day. The grey or black colour you see is not just surface dirt: it is material that has soaked into the grout itself, and no amount of ordinary mopping removes it. The dry summers mean fine dust also works its way into joints on tiled floors, darkening them further over time.

Call or message us on WhatsApp, tell us your district and the area you need done, kitchen, bathroom or floor, and we agree a time. We listen to what you have noticed first, then we clean the grout lines and leave the tiled surfaces looking cleaner.

These are the surfaces and parts the work goes through, depending on the condition of your grout and the type of area.

  • Bathroom floor grout

Bathroom floor grout collects water, soap and dead skin, turning dark and rough underfoot over time. We work along each line to clear the material that has built up inside the joint.

  • Bathroom wall grout

Bathroom walls face constant steam, and moisture soaks into the grout, causing discolouration and mould on the edges, especially around the bath and shower. We clean each joint along the wall tiles.

  • Kitchen tile grout

Kitchen tile grout absorbs grease, spice residue and steam every day, fixing grime inside the joint in a way that ordinary washing cannot shift. We go along the lines between each tile.

  • General floor grout

In living rooms and hallways, sand and fine dust settle into grout joints, making them look dark even after mopping. We work the deposits out from inside each line.

  • Cracked or worn grout

Old grout cracks or wears away, letting water in behind the tiles. When we notice this during the work we let you know so that what needs to be done can be agreed.

  • Grout edges and corners

The corners and edges where walls meet floors collect the most moisture and mould. These are among the areas we go over when cleaning the grout.

Questions

Questions about Grout cleaning

How do I know my grout needs specialist cleaning rather than ordinary washing?

If the grout stays dark or grey after mopping, or you see black or green patches at the edges of tiles and in bathroom corners, the dirt has soaked into the porous grout and mopping will not reach it. A persistent damp smell in the bathroom despite cleaning is another sign.

How do I prepare the bathroom or kitchen before grout cleaning?

Remove rugs and mats and clear the floor of any items, and move things away from the walls to be cleaned. Tell us if there are areas that are hard to reach, such as behind the toilet or under cabinet edges, so we can plan for them.

What should I check in the grout after the cleaning is done?

Once the area has dried fully, check the colour of the grout in the spots that were most discoloured and see that it looks even. Pay particular attention to bathroom corners, bath edges and the shower area. If you notice cracked grout you had not seen before, let us know so we can agree what to do.

My bathroom always smells damp, is the grout the cause?

Porous grout holds moisture and provides a surface for mould, especially in corners and around the shower edge, and that is a common cause of a persistent damp smell. Cleaning the grout removes what has built up inside it. If we find cracked grout that is letting water through, we will point it out.

What affects the size of the grout cleaning job?

The total tiled area to be cleaned, how much grime has built up and how deep the discolouration goes, how easy the area is to reach, and whether the grout is on floors, walls or both. We ask about all of this when you call so we can agree what the job involves.
