What does courtyard tile polishing cover?
Courtyard tiles do not get the shelter that indoor floors do. They face fierce summer sun, dust storms, wash water and the lasting marks those leave: white calcite deposits, yellow stains and a rough surface that resists ordinary cleaning. The calcite build-up in particular comes from local water, settling into joints and across the tile face until the courtyard looks dull no matter how often it is swept.
Call or message us on WhatsApp, tell us the type of tile in your courtyard, what you notice and which district you are in, and we agree a time with you. We handle the polishing from start to finish, so leave it to us and put your mind at rest.
These are the parts and stages the work covers in the courtyard, depending on the tile type, its condition and what you notice in it.
- Removing calcite deposits
White deposits from wash water and sprinklers build up on exposed tiles; we remove them in a way suited to the tile type so the surface beneath comes through.
- Grinding and polishing the tile face
Polishing removes the worn upper layer that friction and weather have damaged, bringing up a more even and less rough surface beneath it.
- Cleaning the joints
Courtyard joints collect dirt, green algae and deposits; we clean them as part of the job because dirty joints spoil the look of even freshly polished tiles.
- Removing yellow stains and rust marks
Iron from irrigation water and fertilisers leaves yellow or brown marks on outdoor tiles; we treat them in a way matched to the surface type and the depth of the stain.
- Edges and corners
Corners and tile edges along walls collect dirt and are often missed in routine cleaning; they are part of the work we carry out.
- Finishing and checking
After polishing we wipe the surface and check it with you to confirm that deposits and stains are gone and the joints are clean before we leave.

Questions about Courtyard tile polishing
How do I know my courtyard tiles need polishing and not just a wash?
If white and yellow marks stay after a normal wash, or the surface feels rough underfoot and no longer smooth as it once was, washing cannot remove what has bonded to the surface. Calcite deposits and deep stains need polishing because water and detergents do not penetrate the calcified layer.
What tile types can be polished in a courtyard?
Outdoor ceramic, porcelain, mosaic and some natural stone tiles can all be polished, but the method differs between types. That is why we ask about your tile type when you call, so the work is prepared accordingly. If you are not sure, you can send a photo on WhatsApp.
Do I need to clear the courtyard before the appointment?
Yes, it helps to move plant pots, chairs, tables and anything else on the floor before we arrive, so the team can work across the full tile area without obstacles and you can check the whole result when we finish.
Green algae comes back every winter in my courtyard joints, does polishing remove it?
Yes, cleaning algae and dirt from the joints is part of the courtyard work, because winter moisture grows algae in open joints. Clean joints make the courtyard look much better and easier to maintain afterwards.
What should I check on the courtyard tiles after polishing is done?
Walk across the full courtyard area and check that white deposits and yellow stains have gone, look at the joints along walls and in corners to make sure they are clean, and notice whether the surface feels more even underfoot than before. If anything catches your attention, let us know before we leave.
