Parquet polishing

Parquet boards lose their sheen gradually, and scratches and stains appear that wiping cannot remove. We polish the surface and give your floor its look back.

What the service includes

What does parquet polishing cover?

Parquet boards are protected by a layer of lacquer or varnish that also gives them their sheen. Fine sand particles drift into every room and act like sandpaper on that layer under daily foot traffic. Over months the finish wears away in high-traffic areas, the boards look dull, and fine crossed scratches appear that ordinary cleaning does not reach.

Call or message us on WhatsApp, tell us your district and the type of parquet you have if you know it, and we agree a time that suits you. We handle cleaning the surface, treating the scratches and dullness, and polishing the outer layer, so your floor gets its familiar look back.

These are the stages the work goes through on the parquet, depending on the condition of your floor and what you notice in it.

  • Surface check and layer assessment

We start by checking the state of the lacquer layer and the depth of the scratches, because a scratch that has reached the wood needs different treatment from one that is only in the surface coating.

  • Cleaning dust and sand off the floor

We remove dust and fine sand before anything else, because any grain left on the surface during polishing will add more scratching to the layer.

  • Treating surface scratches

Fine scratches in the lacquer layer are treated by smoothing the surface before polishing, which reduces their appearance and makes the layer look more even to the eye.

  • Polishing the outer layer

We polish the outer layer of the boards to bring back the sheen that has faded over time, and this step is what shows the difference in the floor's appearance when the work is done.

  • Boards in high-traffic areas

Corridor boards and room entrances wear faster than the rest and may need extra attention, and we note that during the initial check and agree the treatment with you.

  • Check after completion

We turn on the light and check the surface from different angles with you after the work, as angled room light reveals any patch of dullness that has been missed.

Questions

Questions about Parquet polishing

How do I know my parquet needs polishing and not just cleaning?

If a mark or scratch stays clearly visible after wiping with a damp mop, the problem is in the lacquer layer and not in surface dust. Dullness in corridors and the entrance, and fine crossed scratches visible under angled light, are clear signs that the outer layer needs attention.

Does parquet polishing remove deep scratches that have reached the wood?

Fine scratches in the lacquer layer are noticeably reduced by polishing. A deep scratch that has reached the wood needs different treatment that goes beyond polishing, and we notice it during the initial check and tell you before we start.

How do I prepare the room before the parquet polishing appointment?

Clear the room of rugs, light furniture and small items as much as you can. Heavy furniture such as wardrobes can be moved during the work if agreed. It is important to remove rugs because their edges hide areas of the floor that may need treatment.

What do I check in the floor after polishing is done?

Check the surface under angled light from the room doorways, as this reveals any patch of dullness that was missed. Then look at the scratches you pointed out before the work started and confirm their appearance has reduced. Leave the floor without furniture or rugs for a while before putting things back.

What decides the price for parquet polishing?

The price depends on the size of the floor, the type of parquet, the condition of the outer layer and the depth of any scratches. High-traffic areas may need more time and attention. Details are agreed after you explain what you notice when you call or message us.
